BCHC signed onto a letter to request that the House and Senate Subcommittees on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies include at least $100 million in funding for CDC’s Social Determinants of Health program within the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion.
These non-medical drivers of health, collectively referred as the Social Determinants of Health (SDOH), are estimated to contribute 80-90% to a person’s health outcomes, while traditional health care only accounts for 10-20%.
