Letter From Board Leadership 2024

Letter from Board Leadership

In the best of times, the Big Cities Health Coalition provides a welcome opportunity to us and our urban health department colleagues across the country to share ideas and best practices with each other. Even in these brighter moments, we have needed to collectively advocate for more consistent support for our work, to overcome the boom-and-bust approach that Congress has historically taken to funding the public’s health.

Through BCHC, big city health departments have collaborated on investing public health infrastructure grants effectively, building a stronger workforce, modernizing our data systems, bringing down overdose death rates, responding quickly and effectively to disease outbreaks, and much more.

The coming year will require us more than ever to band together to protect the health and wellbeing of our communities. We’re proud to look back on what we did together in 2024 and determined as we look ahead to 2025.
