The Big City Health Coalition is made of up of 30 of the largest, most urban city and county health departments in the nation.

Local health officials and their staff are the first line of defense against threats to the public’s health, from responding to infectious disease outbreaks, disasters - natural or man-made, and battling chronic conditions, such as asthma, addiction and obesity.

Our members focus on preventing disease before it strikes by helping to create healthier, more vibrant communities. This means leading initiatives like vaccinating those residents most at-risk, making the healthy choice the easy choice, and advocating for resources and policies that make communities healthier and safer.
