Why is the Prevention and Public Health Fund necessary?

PPHF- Why funding necessary-.png

The United States spends more than any other nation on clinical health care, but in many cases, it receives too little in return. The U.S. ranks 43rd out of 224 countries in life expectancy. This is because many of the factors that affect one’s health can be found outside the four walls of the clinic, and too little is being done to address those challenges.

Dollars from the PPHF help to create better health outcomes, and in the long run, decrease health care costs by preventing diseases before they strike. For further information on how PPHF is fighting disease in states and localities, please see this explanation from the CDC, Accomplishing CDC’s Mission with Investments from the Prevention & Public Health Fund, FY 2010-FY 2016.
