Treating Addiction in New York City

New York City Department of Health & Mental Hygiene has recently expanded access to Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) with offerings of prescriptions to medications such as suboxone, methodone, burprenorphine that treat opioid addiction & increased training opportunities for physicians who administer these drugs. The city has planned to add over 1,000 new providers over the next three years who are trained and authorized to prescribe buprenorphine, a life-saving medication that treats opioid addiction by stopping cravings and withdrawal symptoms.
