In October 2015, Baltimore’s Health Commissioner issued a jurisdiction-wide standing order for naloxone to be dispensed by pharmacies and overdose response program employees or volunteers. Baltimore’s standing order is a model for how health departments can expand access to naloxone to those at-risk of experiencing an opioid overdose and make it easier for people to get naloxone from their local pharmacist when they need it.
